MaxDiff Feature in Matrix Question Type

This question type allows users to select the most and least preferred items from a given list within a flow.

What is MaxDiff?
MaxDiff is a method that presents participants with a series of options, asking them to identify the most and least preferred choices. This method helps measure the relative importance or preference level of the options.

 

The Matrix Question Type can be adjusted to MaxDiff by selecting Advanced Settings > Change Question Type > MaxDiff.


How to Use MaxDiff with Matrix Question Type

The matrix question type presents MaxDiff in a more structured and understandable format:

Grouping Options:

  • Participants are presented with a matrix containing several options in each row.
  • Each row represents a different task with various option combinations.

Most and Least Preferred Options:

  • In each task, participants are asked to mark the most and least preferred options.

Repeated Tasks:

  • By repeating the process in different tasks, more reliable data on the relative importance of each option is collected.
