Why Reports May Appear Empty After Flow Changes

When you modify a survey or flow, your existing report charts might appear empty. This occurs because the system must align the new flow structure with your report settings.

In your existing reports or in the charts you have added to them, you may encounter an empty widget after changing or editing your flows.

What You Will Find Here

Who Can Access?

All users with access to the Reports module can perform these troubleshooting steps.

How to Access

  1. Select Reports from the main navigation menu.

  2. Click on the specific report you want to view.

  3. Identify the chart that is not displaying data.

What You Can Do Here

Verify Filter and Data Settings

Checking your filters ensures the report looks for data within the correct timeframes and channels.

  1. Open the date filter at the top of the page.

  2. Confirm the selected period matches the dates when you collected feedback.

  3. Open the chart settings.

  4. Check the channel filter to ensure it includes the channels used in your flow.

  5. Verify that the variables assigned to the chart match the selected chart type.

Result: The chart displays data correctly when filters and variables align with the current flow structure.

Tip: Compare your chart filters with your updated flow structure to ensure they are identical.

Manage Data Synchronization and Delays

System processing requires time. This action helps you determine if the data exists in the system but is not yet visible in your analytics.

  1. Go to the Inbox.

  2. Check for new feedback entries that arrived after you changed the flow.

  3. If feedback is present in the inbox but the chart remains empty, wait for the background synchronization to finish.

Result: Data populates the chart once the processing period ends.

Note: The system requires an up to 20-minute delay to process feedback from the inbox into the reports.

Re-create Analysis for Significant Flow Changes

Major changes to a flow can break the connection to old report charts. Re-creating the analysis ensures the report recognizes your new variables.

  1. Delete the existing empty chart or report.

  2. Select the option to create a new chart or report.

  3. Add the updated flow variables to the new chart.

Result: The system generates a new report that is compatible with your modified flow variables.

Tip: Create a new report after any major flow change to prevent data gaps.

Limits / Notes

  • Synchronization: Flow changes often require a new synchronization to link new variables to existing charts.

  • Filter Errors: Incorrect date or filters are the most common reasons for empty data displays.

  • System Latency: The system always has a 20-minute delay between data collection and report visualization.

FAQs

Why is my chart still empty after 20 minutes?

Check if the flow variables in the chart settings match the variables in your active flow. If the variables differ, the chart cannot pull the data.

Do I lose old data if I create a new report?

No. Your data remains in the system. A new report simply displays that data using the updated flow structure.
